TYPES OF INFERTILITY

  • Secondary infertility – women have previously been pregnant, now is unable to conceive

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF INFERTILITY 

Pathophysiology of infertility is based on the cause. Anatomical, sexual, hormonal and psychogenic factors are involved in the pathophysiology of infertility.

In Ayurveda, this condition is managed with multiple concepts of correcting the states of Dhatu and DoshasBalya (which increases the strength of body), Vrishya (which increase fertility), Brumhana (which nourishes body), Rasayana (nourishing tissues) and Vajeekarana Dravya (increasing sexual potency)  are used effectively in improving sexual wellness. Therefore here an attempt is made, to understand Vandhyatva (infertility) from all aspects of reduced fertility and management of the condition from Ayurveda point of view has been elaborated.

YOGA FOR INFERTILITY 

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayam    – calms the mind and can avoid infertility  due to anxiety and stress

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
