BLEEDING GUMS
Gum, also called gingiva, plural gingivae, in anatomy, connective tissue covered with mucous membrane, attached to and surrounding the necks of the teeth and adjacent alveolar bone. Bleeding gums is the most common ailment associated with many gum diseases.
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF BLEEDING GUMS
- Bleeding from gums with or without a mechanical stimuli
CAUSES OF BLEEDING GUMS
- The build-up of plaque at the gum
- Bleeding disorders
- Improper flossing
- Infection, which can be either in a tooth or the gum
- Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer
- Scurvy, a vitamin C deficiency and Vitamin K deficiency
- Improper Brushing
- Ill-fitting dentures or other dental appliances
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF BLEEDING GUMS
Due to the above-mentioned causes bleeding from gums occur particularly during brushing.

- Gum boils
- Gum abscesses
- Allergic gums
- Laboratory tests carried to find out the associated systemic illness
- The biopsy is done to find out the infections and malignancy

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
