SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF GONORRHEA

  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Burning sensation and pain when urinating
  • Frequent urge for urination
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Foul-smelling discharge from penis or vagina
  • Pain in the lower abdomen

CAUSES OF GONORRHEA

  • Gonorrhea is caused by the bacterium Nesseria gonorrhoeae.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF GONORRHEA

The disease is transmitted from one person to another through sexual intercourse. The bacterium causes infection and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the genital tract and urethra.

DIAGNOSIS OF GONORRHEA

  • History taking
  • Diagnosis through signs and symptoms
  • Laboratory investigations such as NAAT (nucleic acid amplification testing)
  • Culturing of urethral or vaginal specimen

TREATMENTS FOR GONORRHEA

  • Anti-inflammatory medicines
  • Antibiotics

PROGNOSIS OF GONORRHEA

  • Prognosis is based on the stage of the disease and condition of the patient. Generally, it subsides within two weeks.
  • Gonorrhea is easily cured by antibiotic therapy.
  • The undiagnosed or untreated gonorrhea leads to complications

COMPLICATIONS OF GONORRHEA        

  • Infertility in men and women
  • Spreading of the infection to other sites of the body

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayama    – gets relief from irritations associated with gonorrhoea and provide overall immunity

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
