SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF CHICKENPOX 

  • The disease results in a characteristic skin rash that forms small, itchy blisters, which eventually scab over. It usually starts on the chest, back, and face.
  • Fever
  • Anorexia
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Fatigue
  • Sore throat

CAUSES OF CHICKENPOX 

Chickenpox is caused by the infection by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV).

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF CHICKENPOX 

The incubation period of chickenpox is 14 to 16 days, following which the disease has a sudden onset with fever, skin rashes, anorexia, etc.

DIAGNOSIS OF CHICKENPOX 

  • Examination of rashes
  • Laboratory tests
  • Culture of lesion samples

 TREATMENTS OF CHICKENPOX 

  • Analgesics
  • Antipyretic drugs like paracetamol
  • Antihistamines
  • Calamine lotion – for external application
  • Fluid supplementation

PROGNOSIS OF CHICKENPOX 

  • It is curable and the symptoms are manageable.

Agni expels out from the site of digestion and spreads to all over the body and gives rise to jwara. Then Tridoshas with Dushitrakta results in multiple boils or blisters like vice Masoor (Red lentil), all over the body.

  • Consume easily digestible food items
  • Avoid visiting the disease prevalent areas
  • Proper sanitation measures to be followed.
  • Masurika is a highly contagious disease. So to avoid its spread from ill to healthy.
  •  Isolation is recommended.
  • Cloths, equipment used by patients must be made sterile.

YOGA FOR CHICKENPOX 

  • Nadi Shuddi Pranayam    – Calms the mind, clears the respiratory passage and gets relief from the irritations associated with chickenpox

The patient needs to be seated in a meditative posture with the head and spine erect, with the body relaxed. The patient has to close his one nostril (e.g. left nostril if using the right hand and vice versa) with the thumb and exhale completely through the other nostril. Again, he will have to breathe in deeply through the other nostril while the opposite nostril is still closed with the thumb.
